Comment: A very unique dram. Juxtaposed between the the sweet smooth highland influence and the raw spicy coastal flavours. Pepper, a little salt, nutmeg, hints of tangy mustard. In a second wave there are some fruity notes and honey. Some grist, heather and saline seaweed again. Finish: long, fairly dry, on peppery oak and light herbal notes. This Oban 14 Years shows an above-average complexity and some ‘advanced’ aromas, but it’s easily drinkable at the same time.

Palate is full-bodied A sweet peat and fruity nose with a spicy mouth-filling sweetness and a long drying finish with smoke and some salt. Tasting notes. Beautiful in the glass, a bright 12 Nov 2009 Very refined. This is big bodied, very malty, single malt scotch.
